I’m Saw Chun Yang, a 24-year-old with a background in Multimedia and IT. While I have prior experience in Admin and Supply Chain Management, I’m always eager to expand my skills and explore new fields. I joined GP Asia as a Digital Marketing intern to gain hands-on experience and learn more about the marketing world. After completing my internship, I’m excited to continue my journey with GP Asia as a full-time interpreter, combining my passion for both digital marketing and interpreting to grow in my career.
How would you describe your overall experience working as a Digital Marketing intern at GP Asia?
My experience at GP Asia has been fantastic. The work culture is welcoming and collaborative, with colleagues and supervisors who are supportive and approachable. While there were moments of intensity, especially during projects and meetings, this only underscored the importance of the work we were doing. The combination of talkative and lively colleagues, along with a serious approach when needed, created a balanced and dynamic work environment.
What are the most valuable skills or knowledge that you've gained during your internship?
Working at GP Asia provided me with a solid foundation in marketing. I was given opportunities to explore different ideas and approaches, which enhanced my understanding of the field. The most valuable skills I gained during my internship were graphic design and professional translation which has taught me a lot about creative flexibility and the importance of attention to detail. Moreover, I have also gained exciting experience in video editing and shooting, boosting my creativity and confidence on camera. Looking ahead, this internship has shaped my career aspirations, which encouraged me to explore different fields while applying the skills I’ve developed.
What do you think makes the work culture at GP Asia unique?
Everyone at the company, including the boss, was encouraging and open to my contributions, which made the experience even more meaningful. The diverse team at GP Asia, composed of people from various backgrounds and age groups, brought together unique perspectives on culture, language, and ideas. This made the workplace truly special. The support I received from my team was always thoughtful, helping me navigate challenges and grow.
What advice would you give to future interns at GP Asia?
To future interns, I’d say, give it your best shot. There will be ups and downs but staying positive and embracing the learning opportunities will make the experience worthwhile. Most days were memorable, thanks to the playful and engaging atmosphere.
