On April 9th, GP Outsourcing Asia was honoured to deliver a career talk titled “Career Opportunities in Malaysia: Overcoming Work Visa Challenges for Foreign Graduates” at Monash University Malaysia. The session brought together final-year international students eager to learn more about viable pathways to employment in Malaysia after graduation.
A prevailing theme during the session was the challenge many foreign graduates face when trying to enter the Malaysian job market. Despite their qualifications and readiness to contribute to the workforce, they are often met with a common employer response: “We do not hire foreigners due to work visa limitations.”
This obstacle frequently discourages talented individuals from pursuing long-term opportunities in the country—even when there is mutual interest between the candidate and the employer.
The EOR Model: How to Get Work Visa in Malaysia with EOR?
To address this concern, the session introduced the Employer of Record (EOR) model as a compliant and streamlined solution.
An EOR is a third-party organization that legally employs a worker on behalf of another company. In Malaysia, companies like GP Outsourcing Asia, an MSC-status company with sufficient employment pass quota, can act as the legal employer of international candidates. Through this arrangement, employers are able to:
Hire qualified foreign talent without the complexities of applying for individual employment passes
Rely on the EOR to manage HR, payroll, taxation, and regulatory compliance
Onboard international employees in a seamless and timely manner
The EOR model eliminates the friction that many local employers face when attempting to hire foreign graduates and provides international students with a practical path forward after graduation.
Empowering Students to Advocate for Themselves
A key segment of the talk focused on how foreign students can approach potential employers who may be hesitant due to visa limitations.
Students were encouraged to:
Bring up the EOR solution proactively during job interviews
Reference GP Outsourcing Asia and tell them we are able to provide work visa for fresh graduates with full EOR services, let them contact us
Include a concise explanation in follow-up emails to reassure employers about our company's compliance and feasibility
This simple but effective communication strategy empowers students to shift the narrative from “I might be a burden to hire” to “Here is a clear, legal way to bring me on board.”
A Shared Benefit for Employers and Graduates
While the EOR model directly supports international graduates, it also offers significant advantages to local employers. It opens the door to a broader talent pool, enhances workplace diversity, and enables companies in Malaysia to remain competitive on a global scale.
Moreover, local students benefit from an environment where they collaborate with peers from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds, gaining exposure to global business practices.
Continued Support and Career Opportunities
GP Outsourcing Asia remains committed to supporting both international and local graduates through career pathways, internship placements, and talent development. Current hiring opportunities include:
English-Mandarin/Cantonese Language Interpreters (Remote)
